Why Lyme Disease?

Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the U.S. What many people don’t realize is that Lyme disease is not a “woods of New England” problem. By raising Lyme disease awareness nationally, we hope to encourage people to take the time and make the effort to protect themselves from tick bites.

Lyme disease is a complex topic with a complicated history including differing and often strongly held views. By providing understandable and actionable health information, the Lyme Wellness Initiative can help people work collaboratively with their health care providers around treatment and symptom management.

The Lyme Wellness Initiative was developed by Harvard Health Publishing at Harvard Medical School. Our work was made possible through a generous gift from the Fairbairn Philanthropic Fund.
